Western Music and Performing Arts
Eligible students are allowed to appear in Music and Performing Arts Examinations conducted by two International Boards:
a. Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)
b. Trinity College London (TCL)
The teacher determines the initial eligibility of the student in preparing for an Examination (assessment of Level/Grade). An approximate range of dates for each examination is provided well in advance before initiating the application and fee acceptance process. Please note that examinations are scheduled during the day and on weekdays and any candidate enrolled for an examination may be required to take leave from their academic school on that day. Once the fees are accepted, the examination Boards will NOT allow any fee discounts on account of absence during the examination.
The only situation in which fees maybe discounted/carried forward is in the case of genuine medical grounds due to which the student is incapable of appearing in the examination. In such cases, the Section Head must be informed in writing in advance and photocopies of supporting medical documents and a medical certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner must be provided along with the said intimation at the Administrative Office of the School.
A candidate will be required to appear for mandatory auditions conducted by the School at specified times to assess the level of preparation for the Board Examination. If a student cannot appear for the audition on the scheduled date, the concerned teacher must be informed in advance and an alternate time slot will be arranged if feasible.
If the performance/preparation of the candidate is found unsatisfactory and it is assessed that the candidate is not fit to be sent up for examination, he/she will be disallowed from appearing in the examination. In this respect the decision of the School is final. In such cases, there will be no refund/adjustment of the examination fees which had been paid to the Board in advance.
If a candidate has not passed the audition, no further adjustments in fees will be made even in case the candidate falls ill during the time of the scheduled examination.
