Our programmes for the next three months are given below. These are the programmes finalized as we go to print. Friday 2nd at 6:30pm : On the 150th birth anniversary of Jean Sibelius and Carl Nielsen, Indranil Poddar invites you to usher in the New Year with a Scandinavian twist. All are welcome. A Listeners Club presentation.
Wednesday 7th at 6:30pm : Special Piano Concert by brilliant young pianist from Prague, Jana Chaudhuri.
Friday 9th at 6:30pm : Ashis Ghosh presents for Bonus Friday Part-2 of the "History of Broadway Musicals" of this three part series. You may remember Part-1 which was presented a few months ago, the story ending in the year 1933. Now Julie Andrews will take you up to 1960 in this fascinating presentation.
Saturday 10th at 6:30pm : The Calcutta School of Music presents New York City-Calcutta Quartet presented by Jim Black (Drums), Michael Attias (Alto Saxophone), Subhajyoti Guha (Tabla), Sougato Roy Chowdhury (Sarod) at the Sandre Hall, Calcutta School of Music.
Sunday 11th at 2:00pm : The Calcutta School of Music presents a Jazz Workshop presented by internationally renowned musicians & performers Jim Black(Drums) & Michael Attias (Saxophone) at Calcutta School of Music. For registrations please contact Calcutta School of Music office. Admissions open till Friday 9th Jan 2015.
Friday 16th at 6:30pm : Ajoy Ray presents for the Jazz Listeners’ Forum, the eye popping, foot-stomping, Tony award-winning musical extravaganza “SOPHISTICATED LADIES”, celebrating the genius of DUKE ELLINGTON.
Saturday 17th at 7pm : Monthly Classical Guitar Concert conducted by Biplav Singh.
Tuesday 20th at 6:30pm : The Calcutta School of Music in association with The Alliance Francaise Du Bengale presents A Special Concert presented by pianist & singer Laurent Couson at the Sandre Hall, CSM.
Friday 23rd at 6:30pm : "Selena" Starring Jennifer Lopez and E J Olmos. The story of a Grammy winner whose life ended at its creative peak. "Terrific fun. A celebration of life". A Musical Theatre presentation by Thiri Posaw.
Sunday 25th at 6:30pm : The Indian Music Section presents an evening of Ghazals by Anuradha Chawla.
Wednesday 28th at 6:30pm : Tagoriana : A Western tribute to Tagore brought to you by Mezzo Soprano Aidan Soder and Pianist Jennifer Heemstra.
Friday 30th at 6:30pm : The Sorcerer’s Apprentice : Indranil Poddar invites you to an evening of Romantic French music on the 150th birth anniversary of Paul Dukas. All are welcome to this Listeners Club presentation.
A double bill of Listeners’ Club is being presented in January as there is no program in March.
Saturday 31st : A Musical Double Delight...6pm onwards at Goethe-Institut/max Mueller Bhavan.

Friday 6th at 6:30pm : Indranil Poddar invites you to spend an evening exploring the world of Alexander Glazunov on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary. A Listeners Club presentation.
Friday 13th at 6:30 pm : We heard so many symphonies conducted by Herbert Von Karajan. But, do we know much about him? Ashis Ghosh in Bonus Friday presents a film on the life of this great conductor Herbert Von Karajan produced by Gernot Friedel. It is a real insight into the makings -- trials and tribulations -- of musical geniuses.
Friday 20th at 7:00pm : The eccentric genius, THELONIOUS MONK, will be revisited by Ajoy Ray for the Jazz Listeners’ Forum.
Saturday 21st at 7pm : Monthly Classical Guitar Concert conducted by Biplav Singh.
Sunday 22nd at 6pm : Indian Music Section presents an evening of Indian Classical Music featuring vocalist Vidushi Purnima Sen.
Friday 27th at 6:30pm : "Polish Spirit" Violin maestro Nigel Kennedy in his own delightful style plays some great Polish composers and also engages with the Polish Chamber Orchestra in playing some other favourites. Not to be missed. A Musical Theatre presentation by Thiri Posaw.
Saturday 28th at 6:30pm : Student Concert (Non Classical) by the students of the Western Music Section.
Friday 13th at 6:30pm : Pure music!! Four famous overtures and a string quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven -- all conducted by Leonard Bernstein and performed by the Vienna Philharmonic. It is a Bonus Friday presentation by Ashis Ghosh open to all. Do not miss this great performance.
Friday 20th at 7pm : Ajoy Ray will present on screen “THE JAZZ BARONESS”, the true story of a British baroness who fell in love with the musical genius THELONIOUS MONK, with special narration by HELEN MIRREN. A Jazz Listeners Forum.
Friday 27th at 6:30pm : "Annie Get Your Gun" We have brought back an all-time favourite, a wonderful entertainer. Starring Betty Hutton and Howard Keel, we hear the magic of Irving Berlin's songs. A Musical Theatre presentation by Thiri Posaw.
Saturday 28th 7pm : Monthly Classical Guitar Concert conducted by Biplav Singh.
Sunday 29th at 6pm : Indian Music Section presents Vasant Utsav featuring Vidushi Dalia Rahut on vocals and Pt. Partha Bose on Sitar.

I have been learning guitar in Calcutta School of Music since the month of August. It has been four months & I can already play a few songs ! The credit goes to my wonderful guitar teacher Mr Soumitra Chatterjee. I hope to finish my guitar Grade 1 course soon. Once I get fair & good control over my guitar, I intend joining Piano lessons in this esteemed institution.
