The Calcutta School of Music is one of the premier institutions in India. It was established in the year 1915 AD by Dr. Phillipe Sandre, a musician of considerable calibre, a contemporary and friend of the famous composer Saint SaŽns. It is probably the only school in the country which has a wide ranging canvas of musical disciplines covering all Western music disciplines, dance, speech training, elocution, and drama. Sunday 28th at 6pm: The Grand Centenary Finale: A Symphony of Two Cities. Debashish Chaudhuri conducts Czech Republic Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic & Calcutta Chamber Orchestras at fundraiser at Kala Mandir. Invitation cards available at CSM office from 18th February 2016.

It is the fist time after 57 years that an orchestra from the Czech Republic is coming to perform in India. The soloist will be Jana Chaudhuri who is already known to Calcutta audience.
